Interesting how you ended up here. Don’t you think?

So, you couldn’t resist your curiosity and clicked on the only button that you were not supposed to click on. I am glad you did though, because it proves that we all have trouble following rules if there are no obvious and immediate consequences for breaking them.

Can you please do me a favor?

Please DO NOT PICTURE a big GRAY ELEPHANT with a long trunk and big ears, looking at you and shaking his head.

Really don’t

Years of being consumers have conditioned us to push buttons. The presence of a button presents a strong trigger for us. After all, buttons are for pushing. And without the knowledge of immediate negative consequences, a “NO” is at least an as strong trigger for us as a “YES”.

What does this tell us?

A) If you don’t want someone to do something then don’t give them an easy option to do it.

B) Ideally, don’t even burden their brain with the thought of the thing they are not supposed to do.

For now don’t worry to much about these two points. Just take a breath and relax.

If I asked you to picture any animal for the next 10 seconds, but not the one I mentioned few lines before, what will you think about?

Let’s do it. Think of an animal and count till 10…

BTW, you are not alone. Several hundred people have pushed the “Don’t” button with you before the counter below broke.
